Mareija Eskelinen is a local Port Moody artist who's paintings are often inspired by the lush scenery of Vancouver and the West Coast of Canada.

The beauty of nature is tremendous, magnificent and transient – ever changing as the earth turns, the light shifts and the seasons ebb and flow. When I sit down to create I am often inspired by one moment when the world felt exceptionally brilliant: a play of sunlight on water, a misty ridge at dawn, or the quiet hush beneath ancient trees.

By means of a brush and paint on a canvas, I endeavour to capture some of that grandeur of the natural world, beyond what can be seen with the naked eye and grasping toward what can be felt with the heart.

I paint in the space between what we see and what we feel, where memory and imagination meet.
